Masindi medics warned against extortion.
Masindi-based Bwijanga Health Center 1v workers have been advised to stop extorting money from expectant mothers in abide to receive services.
The resident district commissioner of Masindi, Emmy Ngabirano made the call on Thursday during the belated Independence Day celebrations at Kikingura Primary School in Bwijanga Sub-county while representing the state minister for water, Hon. Aisha Ssekindi.
Sort out the mess in the health sector, especially Bwiajanga Health Centre 1v The issue of extortion must stop. “Why are you extorting from expectant mothers and patients, if you don’t sort out yourselves within two weeks I’m going to deploy and the perpetrators will meet the consequences.”
The acting district health officer of Masindi district Jino Abirga promised to follow up on the matter to ensure that the public receive services in these health facilities for free.
He also asked the public to always report to his office if such incidents happen to them.
