President Yoweri museveni to intervene in Bunyoro -Bugungu conflict over secession

Rt. Hon. Andrew Byakutaga the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister has asked President Yoweri Museveni to intervene into the secession plan of the Bagungu people.

While president museveni meeting bunyoro leaders on Saturday,the prime minister bunyoro kitara kingdom Andrew Byakutaga told President Museveni that the District LCV Chairperson Fred Lukumu and the Former Bunyoro Kingdom Prime Minister Norman Lukumu are agitating for the Bagungu secession, something he said is creating division among the people of Bunyoro.

He also asserted that the political leaders are using their offices to create divisionism among the people of Bunyoro, adding the secession will disorganize their culture.

In response, Fred Lukumu, the Buliisa district LCV Chairperson insisted that Bagungu differ from the Banyoro adding that according to the 1995 Ugandan Constitution, Bagungu are entitled to have a cultural institution.
In response president yoweri museveni assured the two parties that he will meet them and harmonize the matter after Independence celebrations.
