Micho Summons Squad for United Arab Emirates Trip

The Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin Micho Sredojevic has summoned a 21-man squad for two international build-up matches in the United Arab Emirates-UAE.
Uganda Cranes is set to play two AFCON bound teams including Gabon and Mauritania as they prepare for CHAN qualifiers. Uganda Cranes will face Gabon on December 30th, 2021, and Mauritania on January 1st, 2022.
Both games will take place in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The team summoned by Micho comprises mainly players from the Star Times Uganda Premier League. Only two South Africa-based goalkeepers Isma Watenga and Moses Waiswa are part of the team.
Onduparaka striker Muhammad Shaban has also been recalled to the national team. According to Micho, the build-up games will help shape his side as they look forward to preparing for the next international competitions.
“We are assembling the Uganda Cranes team that will be competitive to feature in several upcoming engagements like the AFCON 2023 and CHAN 2022 qualifiers. Such international buildup matches are a perfect measure for early preparations,” Micho revealed.
The other goalkeepers are Joel Mutakubwa and Komakech Jack. Defenders include Kizito Gavin, Iguma Denis, Kayondo Azizi, Juma Ibrahim, Lwaliwa Khalid, Najib Fesali, Walusimbi Enock, Semakula Keneth.
Midfielders include Byaruhanga Bobosi, Kakooza Mahad, Waiswa Moses, Kizza Martin while forwards include Kaddu Patrick, Sentamu Yunus, Orit Ibrahim, Mutyaba Travis, Mukwala Steven, and Mohamed Shaban.
FUFA’s Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein, says that the team will depart for Abu Dhabi on December 29th, 2021, and return on January 2nd, 2022 after the two games.
