Police Arrest One in Connecttion to Death of An Unidentified Man

Busia police are holding one suspect in connection to the death of an unidentified man whose lifeless body was founding lying by the roadside. The suspect is Micah Okiria, a resident of Namayenje village, Habuleke parish in Busitema Sub-county of Busia district.
He is accused of killing a man whose body was found lying along the road near his home in Namayenje village on Wednesday morning. According to residents, the unidentified man who only spoke English and Lusoga and appeared to be mentally ill was last seen alive in the nearby trading center on Tuesday evening.
Preliminary police investigations show that the deceased was beaten to death before his body was dumped along the road. The body had wounds, broken jaws and some cuttings on the body indicating that he was a victim of assault.
David Okwara, the Namayenje Village Defense Secretary, says that by the time of his death, the deceased was dressed in white pair of jeans trousers and a white shirt.
Samuel Musana Egesa, the LC 1 chairman Namayenje village, says that he received news about the incident from residents and rushed to the scene only to find the man dead. He says that unfortunately, they couldn’t identify the deceased since they didn’t find any identification document on the body.
He says that they suspected that Micah Okiria could have had a hand in the murder of the deceased and when police introduced a canine at the scene, it led them to his home.
Ben Okamar, the Busitema Sub-county LC 3 chairman has condemned acts of mob justice and asked residents to report suspicious people in their areas instead of taking the law in their hands.
He says once their investigations pin Okiria, they will charge him with murder. He advised residents to always move along with some identification documents like national identity cards among others that can help people to identify the easily in case of any problem.
The deceased’s body is lying Masafu general hospital mortuary pending postmortem and identification by the relatives.
